UK Taxidermy law

Shooting Seasons and Quarry Species.

As a taxidermist, you are generally the source of acquisition or the person who holds the details of the source of acquisition. It is therefore important that the acquisition of a specimen is legal.

With Game and Quarry species, unless obtained by other legal means (such as road kills), it is necessary to confirm that the specimen you have received was lawfully shot during the shooting season. In other words if someone presents you with a Woodcock stating it was shot in May, that would be illegal, as the season for Woodcock is October 1st - January 31st.

If you click the link below it will provide a full list of quarry species and shooting seasons
