Guild of Taxidermists Approved Taxidermy Inspectors.

This is a scheme set up by DEFRA & The Guild of Taxidermists to assist where possible, collectors of taxidermy whom for one reason or another have little or no provenance for a specimen they wish to sell.

It would be more commonly used on species where the individual Article 10 or Schedule 5 licenses are required.

These Inspectors are geographically placed around the U.K. but are totally independent of DEFRA. In no way will the inspectors' conclusions guarantee a licence being issued, however it will assist the issuing authority when making the decision. Each inspector will, by virtue of the fact that they are an independent service, make a charge for the research or expert opinion.

The system has certainly proved it's worth, assisting not only private sellers but Auction Houses across the country.
