Why not join the growing number of Auction Houses, Taxidermists and other people already using our service.

Membership is offered to regular users of this unique service, such as Auction Houses, Internet Traders, Taxidermists/Dealers,etc. who will, by virtue of their trade, often require assistance throughout the year. By joining the scheme, this will save paying the full fee each time by receiving great discounts or even free information. All offer great discounts and extra benefits as well as that peace of mind. Of course, you don't have to join, you can use the simple "buy a token" (only £10) for the one off question - the choice is completely yours.

The three categories of membership are:-

Associate Membership

This is aimed at individual domestic trader (Antique dealer; Collector; Taxidermist) and the single saleroom Auction House holding one annual specialist sale or smaller collections in several General Sales.

An annual retainer fee of £100.00 will give you: -

Free entry via password to the Members section of the site

Free expert advice on many basic questions

Generous discounts (25%) on fee paying work undertaken such as catalogue checks

Free advertising of the Auction (Subject to catalogue check)

Complete confidentiality and Peace of mind.

These auctions draw worldwide interest – so attracting non-European bidders - it is therefore handy to know which specimens/items will require Export permits and other paperwork. Don't forget many antique items come under the control of CITES, such as Ivory figurines and artefacts, carved Rhino Horn, Furniture with Ivory /Tortoiseshell inlay etc etc. Pre 1947 items are fine and exempt from licensing controls within the EC – it must be remembered however that outside of Europe Permits will be required. International movement is highly controlled. Certain countries may also have domestic legislation that prohibits possession by citizens of that country. Forewarned is forearmed – by simply placing a warning in your catalogue could save you and your prospective client a lot of bother. Protect yourself from the potential comeback.

  • We will happily go through your catalogue proof lists and advise on individual lots before it goes to print – complete confidentiality is guaranteed. We will even advertise the sale under "Forthcoming Auctions" completely FREE of charge
  • Not sure if you can sell an item? – give us a call and make sure.
  • Does a particular item require a licence? – check first with us for a simple answer.
  • Is it Pre 1947?– are you sure, do you have the provenance to prove it? If not you may need the assistance of a GoT Approved Taxidermy Inspector.
  • Has your seller done everything legal? Check with us for peace of mind.
  • Just need to ask a question - fire away, we will answer you in plain English.

Specialist Membership

This is aimed at Auction Houses holding 2 or 3 specialist sales per year, plus the odd item elsewhere - whether single saleroom houses or 2 or 3 salerooms holding single specialist sales. Art companies & Antique dealers with international movement of specimens.

An annual retainer of £250 will give you:-

Free entry via password to the Members section of the site

Free expert advice on many basic questions

Generous discounts (25%) on fee paying work undertaken such as catalogue checks

WHY JOIN?

Here are a few reasons:-

As an Auction House: -

· Are you sure you have everything covered?
· Has your client done everything legally required? (has your client applied for all necessary licenses - A10's; Schedule 5 etc)

~ Can a US buyer bid for this item - (is he allowed to be in possession in the USA - A good many commonly traded species are prohibited)

· Is that really an “antique”? – is it Pre 1947? – can it be proved?

Consultancy work such as Licence/Permit Applications; Collection/Catalogue advice; Import/Export assistance; Research; Valuations; etc. are all subject to generous discounts.

As an individual taxidermist, Dealer: -

· How many times have you filled in a form and had it returned for one reason or another? – Insufficient details, forgot to tick a box – it’s happened to us all.
· Log books; Licence application forms – take the hassle out of “Red Tape”. – Leave it to us.
· Are your books completely in order?
· Is every specimen covered?
· Are you confident you are ready for a DEFRA Inspection? (They have a full inspectorate and one day soon they will start on taxidermy - just like they used to do in the old days but with upgraded powers)

If the answer to any of these questions is NO – then let us take that doubt away. We will act in your best interests – and with COMPLETE CONFIDENTIALITY.

· We will answer your questions in plain English.
· We will get you “up to date and legal”.
· We will make the necessary applications for you –
· We will deal with DEFRA
· We, if necessary will ask you the questions, without prejudice.
· We will act on your behalf
· We will take the hassle out of selling/buying wildlife products.
· We will make sure you are operating legally.

What is the catch?

None what so ever. We just want to help you operate legally. This helps our profession; it adds respectability to the trade, which in turn helps us. Don’t forget we are Taxidermists as well.

Who are we?

If you are in the Guild, you will have heard of us – we have worked hard to gain a good reputation – we have been the Guilds legal Liaison for the past 15 years.
We are confident that if you ask your local Police WCO – he or she will know of us – they will know our reputation - many will know us personally. If you ask DEFRA: Scottish Executive; USF&W Service; and many other Management Authorities; The RSPB; RSPCA; HMRC - CITES Team; Traffic; and many other Conservation NGO’s - the same will apply.
A bit “Cock sure” of ourselves? – No, just quietly confident.
