HOW TO USE SERVICE. Tiger Head by Van Ingen

Found a Tigers head in the attic? - want to sell it?

What's an Article 10? - do I need one?

Hopefully the pages on this web site will answer many questions or point you in the right direction. The navigation bars on the left are fairly self explanatory, but just in case here is a breakdown of some of them. TRADE/COLLECT will open up into various subjects such as Advertising and Displaying (there are regulations governing both these); Antiques (some are exempt from the regulations); Auctions and/or Buy/Sell (what you need to know when selling or buying); do you just Collect (you need to be aware of the regulations); do you just do taxidermy as a Hobby (you still need to keep records) and if you trade as a Taxidermists your requirements are more precise: CLOSE SEASONS will take you through to the BASC site with a list of shooting/close seasons; HELP/ADVICE will open into various pages on Membership; FAQ's; Useful contacts and Health matters covering subjects such as Rabies; Lymes Disease etc: DEFRA GUIDELINES will take you through to the DEFRA web site page giving their guidelines on Antique dealers; Import & Export; Commercial use etc; VARIOUS REGULATIONS will delve a little deeper into the numerous Acts, Regulations and if you are a WILDLIFE CRIME OFFICER you may find that page of help - as may the taxidermists.

The MEMBERS (PASSWORD) section is for those who join Taxidermylaw* and opens another dozen or more pages on subjects such as up to date Legal Changes (as they are announced or in Consultation); Auction Houses covers many scenarios in more detail; Pre 1947 Taxidermists (an extensive list of taxidermists operating before and around that all important date); Import and Export (with details on some individual countries such as Australia; Canada; New Zealand; USA etc); How to complete an Article 10 application; How to complete an Import/Export/Re-Export application (the simple straight forward guide in layman's terms) and a more detailed Species List - you can also submit your questions.

* You will find details on Joining Taxidermylaw below.

Have a hunt around, we have dealt with many common problems and questions. If however you wish to delve deeper or ask specific question relating to your situation, then our service can help you all the way. A lot of your questions may be answered by surfing the web – but believe us when we say, it is not easy finding the answer on a huge web site such as USF&W or even DEFRA – these sites must deal with all aspects of their subject – DEFRA don't just deal with taxidermy – that is just a small part of a larger cog. Specifics – they don't necessarily deal with them but feel free to try and find the answers – if you get stuck (and nine times out of ten, you will) then you know where we are.

We are here to bring 30 years of experience to you. Many aspects of the law are untested or “grey areas” – what may seem complicated to you, we may have done hundreds of times – it is our intention to help you where we can, to pass on that experience. It is also our intention to retain the good name we have and to support the legal trade. For those who wish to do things with validity, then that is why we are here – for those who wish to operate outside of this limit, then you may find us on the other side.

DISCLAIMER

Whatever way you choose to solve your problem, be assured we will do our best to help. In legal terms, no one person can give a definitive answer – as different people interpret different points in different ways – try ringing up a Government department and asking the same question to four different officers. We guarantee you will get at least two different answers, if not more. A court of law may make a ruling – but even then you can appeal. We are simply here to help, not to make judgments, not to make rulings – so should our interpretation later be questioned, we cannot be held responsible - for it will be our opinion – which will always be given in good faith.
